Our Story
per·i·gee (noun): the point in the orbit of the moon or a satellite at which it is nearest to the earth.
Each unique relationship in our lives is created by an invisible force that draws us closer to one another. A relationship can be born from a familial connection, or created organically out of mutual respect and love. Our quilts and prints explore these connections, honor these relationships, and draw people together.
Using traditional processes and patterns together with modern technology and design, we create unique heirlooms that will last for generations. We hope you will use and cherish these heirlooms, crafting your own personal narrative exploring your legacy.
About Julia
I’m a maker, graphic designer, and builder living in Central New York.
Growing up in the country and spending time in urban areas shaped my view of the environment and how people interact with it. A life-long love of fiber art led me to use quilting to explore how places and the physical environment can impact and shape relationships.
To design each quilt, I use traditional quilt blocks and then deconstruct and re-arrange each half-square triangle to create new, modern patterns. This allows the quilts to remain rooted in tradition while still feeling contemporary.
While completing my Master of Art at SUNY Oswego, I also became interested in letterpress printing. My desire to work with tactile materials and my appreciation of traditional craft drew me to both quilting and letterpress printing.
When I’m not sewing and printing, I enjoy working on my timber frame and straw bale house, and spending time with my husband, John, and my dog, Jango.
